Byloapp makes a bold move for its women employees with 12 period leaves a year!
Despite all the talks of gender equality and being equally comfortable with all kinds of topics, menstruation is still the perfect one if you wish to bring in a sense of awkwardness between a cheerful discussion.
So much for small talk.
Menstruation is still a taboo topic to bring up in the workplace, and the women there need to put in vague reasons like ‘feeling unwell’, ‘personal reasons’ and more such ones which can’t be far away from their true pain.
To this, Byloapp, Central India’s first startup for the hyperlocal market has taken the point of period leaves a step ahead, by entitling all its women to one period leave every month!

Yes, every month!
This comes to 12 period leaves in a year, which might be just two more when you look at Zomato, which made the announcement a few months ago but makes a bigger impact as far as considering women’s health and mental well-being is concerned.
‘As a youth-centric startup, it is our highest responsibility to ensure better health of every single employee, irrespective of their gender. Menstruation is something that’s specific to women, and with everyone being aware of the pain and trouble that comes with it, Byloapp management decided that it was high time to act on it’, says Mr. Rohit Verma, Founder & CEO.

Zomato was met with a lot of positivity with its decision to introduce period leaves for its women work staff that amounts to 10 leaves in a year, which earned them unanimous praise from the corporate fraternity around the world.
Despite being one of the most progressive countries in the world, India is a place where around 70% of women are actually unaware of what menstruation is until their first cycle hits them. To add to it, they are refrained from entering temples and perform the staple puja or other religious rituals on ‘their days’.
While religion can indeed be attached to the above instance, even in the workplace, women are expected to bear those pains in silence and keep continuing to provide for their daily tasks, which Byloapp wishes to change as well.
Their decision breathes fresh air into tackling this whole issue and does beautifully to restore confidence that changes can be made, without compromising on the quality of output and health as well.
Yes, there have been a couple of companies here and there who made changes in their policies silently to accommodate menstruation before Zomato, but central India’s first hyperlocal startup-like Byloapp too has made its intentions clear about how they are an equal team, which is more of a family, as they say.
After all, society does not change by just splattering an opinion everywhere, but speaking less and bringing in the betterment by one’s own company. Byloapp has definitely followed this to the tee. Expect more surprises from this beautiful budding startup in the near future.
